Attribué à Jacques Blanchard (1600-1638), d'après Saenredam - Lot 256
Attribué à Jacques Blanchard (1600-1638), d'après Saenredam (1565-1607), d'après Abraham Bloemaert (1564-1651) "Without Ceres and Bacchus, Venus would catch cold" ("Sine Cerere et Baccho triget Venus") Burin engraving, 275 x 223 mm. Signed in the Blanchard plate. Without letter. Handwritten annotation, probably 17th or 18th century, on the left: Blomard (illegible), then, on the right: Blanchard Dust, light stains, fold at the upper right corner. A beautiful and strange proof, which seems to have escaped bibliographers, and which exactly duplicates that of Saenredam (Hollstein 75; Bartsch III, Saenredam 28, p.229). Jacques Blanchard knew Corneille Bloemart, son of Abraham, who engraved his painting The Chastity of Joseph (or Joseph and the Wife of Putiphar).
