Weight Figure II, 2022 Welded bronze, unique piece Signed "HAL W H. 74 - L. 32 cm British sculptor Halliday Avray-Wilson, also known as Hal Wilson, is the grandson of the painter Frank Avray-Wilson. Trained in sculpture at Oxford and Florence, he moved to France in 1994. He works mainly in bronze and steel, which he approaches, at the beginning of his career, in a brutal and aggressive way using explosives, then in a more traditional way in collaboration with the foundry of Dontreix in the Creuse. His series of sculptures in welded bronze entitled Weight Figure translates an aesthetic research mixing abstraction and figuration. In 2000, Hal Wilson created an allegory of Victory for the town of Les Ancizes in the Puys-de-Dôme in homage to the resistance fighters of the Combrailles. His sculpture Running Man made for the London Olympics in 2012 featuring a runner received great success. He was named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2014.
