Historical account of the Chinese Empire and its conquest by the Manchus in 1644, by the Jesuit Pierre-Joseph d'Orléans (1641-1698). Originally published in 1688, the work also contains, in separate pagination, the History of Sevagi and his successor, new conquerors of India (37 pages). Handwritten bookplate at the top of the title: Le Vicomte de Gouffier. Slight wetness and small tear without missing restored to the title. Small split at the jaws near the upper cover.
