PAWLOWSKI (Stanislaw).
Acta et constitutiones Synodi Olomucensis, Anno Domini 1591 die XII Novembris habitae & celebratae. Olomouc [Olmütz], Heirs of Friedrich Milichtaller, 1592. In-4, fawn basane, with antique silver decoration, fillet and scroll border, small fleuron at the corners, medallion in the center of the first plate (nimbed portrait of Christ) and armorial medallion in the center of the second (Czech binding of the time). First edition of the proceedings of the diocesan synod of Olomouc, presided over in 1591 by Bishop Stanislaw Pawlowski, promulgating for Moravia (now the Czech Republic) the decisions of the Council of Trent. Very rare printing from Olomouc (Olmütz), capital of Moravia until 1641, where printing was introduced at the very end of the 15th century. A rare specimen of a 16th-century Czech binding, bearing the arms of Bishop Stanislaw Pawlowski. On the title, handwritten bookplate, filled-in stamp, and wet stamp Konvent a Nemocnice Milosrdnych Bratri (repeated at the end). Marginal staining to a few leaves. Binding very restored, small scratches on the boards.
