Li sonetti canzone triumphi. S.l.n.d. [at the colophons] : Venice, Gregorio de Gregori and Bernardino Stagnino, 1519. 2 parts in one volume in-4, lemon morocco, triple gilt fillet, numeral with the initials CC intertwined in the corners, coat of arms in the center, spine decorated with gilt fillets and the same numeral repeated, gilt edges (Binding of the 17th century). Essling, n°88. Nice Venetian edition of Petrarch, printed in italic type and illustrated with 7 full-page woodcuts. It is the reprint of the edition given by Bernardino Stagnino in 1513, described by Essling under n°86. Precious copy in morocco with the arms and the figure of Charles de Valois (1573-1650), duke of Angouleme. Natural son of Charles IX and Marie Touchet, Charles de Valois was a distinguished bibliophile. His library was bequeathed by his son Louis, Count of Alais, to the convent of the Minimes de La Guiche, in the Charolais region: the manuscript bookplate of this congregation is affixed here on the verso of the title. Slight marginal and angular wetness to a few leaves of the last quire. Spine creased and darkened, scuffing on the second board.
