In-12, granite calf, gilt fillet, gilt design in the center of the boards, gilt inscription on six lines on the first board, spine decorated, red speckled edges (Binding of the time). De Backer-Sommervogel, vol. VI, pp. 971-990, n°13. A work by the Provençal Jesuit François-Antoine Pomey (1619-1673), dedicated to the Dauphin, in the form of a French-Latin dictionary of terms used in the sciences and arts such as astronomy, meteorology, natural history, botany, geography, medicine, optics, etc. It was designed for students to help them learn Latin. Curious binding, undoubtedly expensive, decorated on the boards with a gilt motif and bearing on the first one the following mention in gilt capitals on six lines : noble jean de reynaud seign. d. latour / mr mt. philib. rouvier ass. / mr guilh. denis t. / sr. esr bouttellier. Light foxing, tear without missing a table leaf. Heads and two spines restored.
