Elementary letters on chemistry. Paris, Migneret, An XI. - 1803. 2 volumes in one in-12, half red basane, smooth spine decorated, spotted edges (Binding around 1820). First edition, with 8 folding plates, 7 of which (all except n°III) printed on blue paper and colored, representing experiments and laboratory instruments. Work by Count Octave de Ségur, military officer who became sub-prefect of Soissons - he died in 1818 by throwing himself into the Seine, because of his wife's infidelities, it is said -, composed after the chemistry courses given at the École Polytechnique by the great chemists of the time (Berthollet, Fourcroy, Chaptal, Guyton, etc.). Some foxing. Binding very rubbed.
