Important head of Guanyin in sculpted limestone with traces of lacquer, the eyes half closed, the mouth sketching a slight smile, the forehead decorated with the urna. She wears round earrings in the shape of flowers, the finely sculpted headdress is topped with a lotus flower and a crown, the image decorated with a Sanskrit character surrounded by flowers. Restorations H. 44 cm Reference: A head with a similar crown including a Tibetan character dating from the 12th/13th century held at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, no. 2000.86.1
