BARBEY d'AUREVILLY Jules (1808-1889) Ecrivain, célèbre dandy.
L.A.S. to his dear Dutacq, (s.l.n.d. [20 November 1853]). 1 p. bifeuillet in-8, address, trace of green wax seal. Relating to his collaboration to the newspaper Le Pays, and a dispute with Joseph Cohen the editor in chief; it is about a critical article concerning Guillaume Pauthier's work on La Chine; Barbey thanks his friend Armand Dutacq for having intervened "[...] I only ask for an occasion to speak again about Mr. Pauthier. His grotesque self-love can give one of my articles some gaiety and if Cohen inserts the complaint, he will also insert the answer. But the question is not me, it is the newspaper, and I find it shameful that the newspaper makes claims to Mr. Pauthier". Barbey adds, disillusioned: "I am in the anguish of a medicine and as green as this paper [...]".
