BEAUVOIR Roger de (1807-1866)
Rich and famous writer, full of romanticism and touching everything, he was also a man of the world who entertained his contemporaries. Set of 3 LAS. [(SLND)Paris], May 29, 1854 addressed to Monsieur Sauvaignat and a friend. 3 pp in-8, addresses and postmarks on versos. Asking him to go tomorrow Saturday to n°2 rue des Nonchet, Roger de Beauvoir writes "Mr. Le B° Allessandresco who has a lot of books to sell to you: I think you would make a good deal [...]". He also announces that he has some excellent volumes to sell; "We will wait for you, it is an important business. Write me the day before at what time you will come [...]". He specifies that he has a friend with a collection of statues for sale. "I have just passed by the circle, you were not there, I pass by your house, you are not there, therefore you are a beggar. It is precisely because you are a beggar that I want to enrich you. Mr. de Saint Armand, whom I wanted to introduce to you, has a magnificent collection of statues; these statues, the whole collection, would be worth a considerable price. I think that it would be better to accommodate him at the club or at your home in your salons. Finally, dear friend, I will see you and we will talk again [...]." An important set of 23 poems and sketches made between 1902 and 1903 by his son Eugène Roger de Beauvoir is attached.
