Literary encouragement from Gide who received poems from the young Mireille Havet; adulated by the social salons of the Capital, called the "little poyétesse" or the "first-rate gonzessse" by Apollinaire, she will receive support from Cocteau, Colette, Paul Fort. "All my thanks, Miss, for your poems. I'm sorry, if you brought them to me yourself, that you were not asked to enter. Gide would have been pleased to see her again, having by no means forgotten our chance meetings at the Beaumonts, the Serts [...]". Attached is the original copy of a poem by Mireille Havet, entitled "Les Lys rouges" and dedicated to Lilie de La Nux, June 1915 (28 verses on 1 pp. folio). I would like you to remember / These lilies that you did not see / They were standing against the shutters / Their stems like arms [...]. It was an apotheosis / Of colors and harmony / That these lilies with the heart of rose / On the wall of plain stone [...].
