Correspondence addressed to the publisher Eric Losfeld, concerning Bellmer's work and drypoint for the print of Maurice Raphael's "Claquemur" published by Arcanes [Losfeld] in 1953. ... "I used the failed copper of Mrs. Chevalier to remake it entirely with a burin. The result is very satisfactory. After having made a test print for Leblanc, I gave it to the steelworker... if Mrs. Chevalier has not yet finished her copper, we could have mine printed if you want. But you mustn't say anything to Mrs. Chevalier! You paid for it, so there's no reason to give her the work she owes you. As for my copper engraved with a burin, it will remain my property, the copper of Mrs Chevalier can be added to the unique copy". ... "As for my copper engraved with the burin, you know well that I lent it to you on a provisional basis for a certain number of ordinary copies of the book of Raphaël! On a provisional basis and against the agreed sum of 5000 frcs" ...
