Iconography and description:
The scene may be one of the many battles of the great Cyrus. Indeed, the tapestry once paired with another scene identified with certainty as a scene from the History of Cyrus. Numerous soldiers enliven this composition: the battle is fierce and takes place on land and sea, while a burning city can be seen in the distance. The tapestry is set in a beautiful, wide compartmented border, decorated with allegorical figures and small scenes in medallions.
