ARTAUD Antonin. - Lot 32

ARTAUD Antonin. AUTOGRAPHIC LETTER SIGNED to Dr. FERDIÈRE. [Rodez], circa 1943. 4 pages in-8 in pencil on lined paper. Artaud tells Dr. Ferdière about a very strange dream he had the night before... I had a strange dream last night, I was in front of a black table and I saw you enter as if into a kind of underwater serosity, like the shadow of a heart lost to me, whose heart has been pushed away from the moral and into the limbo of I don't know what virtuality further away than anything one can see or perceive, in order to use this heart and its being for another purpose and for acts other than those he himself has thought. The man who stood before me and spoke to me about your dead figure and through it threatened me because he had annihilated the problem of the ancient loss and of my heart and yours and lived only to have eaten it... we're surrounded by nothing but idiots, profiteers and cowards who've never wanted to hear their hearts, and those like you who have a heart see it slipping at every turn into the abyss of immortal stupidity that never ceases to suffocate us, and the impure vomit of stupidity forces me to plug my nose in front of the azure.
