BATAILLE Georges. - Lot 56

BATAILLE Georges. AUTOGRAPHIC LETTER SIGNED to Noël ARNAUD AND AUTOGRAPHIC NOTE ON A DACTYOGRAPHIC TEXT ALSO SIGNED. June 9, 1941. One page in-8 on colored paper. Retained envelope and one page in-4. ... Response to the survey on poetry. What is its role? The very knowledge of the unknown or known and the poetry of the known to the unknown. What do you think? Poetry disposes of men, not men of poetry. On a mimeographed page recounting the brawl between Georges Hugnet and Noël Arnaud, appears this autograph text: ...It's a pity in a certain sense that it's not a slander to say of this schoolboy paper that it's of such a nature as to publicly disfigure the meaning and scope of any activity. Georges Bataille Attached is Georges Bataille's delightful typescript of Isidore Isou's book L'Agrégation d'un nom et d'un messie, published in the October 1948 issue of Critique, 2 pages in-4.
