BRETON André. LA CHANCE POSTHUME DE SADE. AUTOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT. 1950. 1 half-page in-4. First draft manuscript with erasures and corrections ... Sade's posthumous luck, as if by mystery it were to compensate for the insane rigor of the fate he suffered during his lifetime, is to attract to him at long distance not only the most worthy exegetes of him, but on that lightning ground among all which is his work... With Maurice Heine's death in 1940 coinciding with the two-hundredth anniversary of Sade's birth, the noble task was taken over by Gilbert Lély, who in turn has helped us with his love and zeal to deliver a number of works and documents hitherto withheld from our knowledge...
