CÉLINE Louis-Ferdinand. - Lot 99
CÉLINE Louis-Ferdinand. 3 AUTOGRAPH LETTERS SIGNED to Robert DENOËL. New York Chicago ([July 1934]. 9 pages in-4 on letterhead of the Vanderbilt Hotel in New York and the New Lawrence Hotel in Chicago. Céline is promoting Voyage au Bout de la nuit in the United States, in New York and Chicago, and is hoping for a film adaptation. He announces to his publisher Denoël the possible publication of Mort à Crédit under certain conditions. ... I did what was necessary here with the journalists and consented to stupid interviews, including, alas, the photographs ... I feel pretty good about the film, but next time I'll have it published in New York. By the way, I've decided to publish Mort à Crédit next year, but on the conditions I've given you: 10% up front for all translations and adaptations for Cézigue, otherwise nails... ... I'm getting some pretty bad news from Boston about Le Voyage, which they say sells rather poorly, yet I see it prominently displayed in every bookshop in Chicago... There's something disturbing about that... ... but I'm waiting for the letter you know from you... this letter to Le Havre please, otherwise no more Mort à Crédit than butter on your ass. A vous vacanceux.
