HUGO Victor. - Lot 205
HUGO Victor.
AUTOGRAPHIC PLI to François BULLOZ [1848]. 2 pages in-8, one address page on blue paper (folds, slight tear without missing text).
Autograph letter signed and addressed to François Bulloz, then administrator of the Comédie française. He was also one of the historical founders of the Revue des deux mondes and the pre-original editor of Les Fleurs du Mal.
The letter probably relates to a new version of Le Roi s'amuse, a drama in (acts) by Victor Hugo that was first performed in 1832 at the Comédie Française. ... Although ill and suffering myself, I will resume and complete the work as soon as possible. On my behalf, you can assure the French actors of this. I think the theater will get what it wants, because I'm ready to help you and to see the Minister again.... But don't you think it would be useful and convenient at the moment to wait a little longer? It will be impossible in two or three months to put Le Roi s'amuse on a poster.
