Matisse insisted that Derain come and paint with him in the light of Collioure, which he did, and this was the beginning of Fauvism.
The card shows boats in the bay of Collioure (slight soiling).
I cannot insist enough on persuading you that a stay here is absolutely necessary for your work. You will be in the most advantageous conditions and will benefit financially from the work you do. I'm sure that if you listen to me, you'll do well, which is why I keep telling you to come!
