PARISOT Henri. - Lot 253
PARISOT Henri. 4 AUTOGRAPH LETTERS SIGNED to Doctor FERDIÈRE. Paris, 1945-1946. 1 page and a half in-4, 3 pages in-12, 3 pages in-8. Correspondence concerning publications of Antonin Artaud's letters from Rodez and the dispute between Henri Parisot and Doctor Ferdière. ... Paulhan tells me that you are not very supportive of the publication of the letters from Rodez by our friend Antonin ARTAUD. I hasten to tell you that if I felt I had to accede to Artaud's desire to see these letters published, it was because of their poetic and revolutionary value, and in no way to satisfy the unhealthy curiosity that, according to you, it might provoke. Would you have disapproved of the publication of Hölderlin's Poèmes de la folie or Gérard de Nerval's Aurelia? As I'm not very familiar with the issues you're dealing with, I don't quite understand what sort of harm Artaud could do by publishing letters he wrote specifically with a view to having them published, nor what sort of harm such publication could do to his real friends (who are not mentioned once in the said letters). Could you give me some clarification on this? I'm also surprised that a professional psychologist would be so quick to judge the actions of people who are not on his own level! I'm told you have the legal right to prevent GLM from releasing the book (a detail I'm unaware of) to this day. Do as you please. But I draw your attention to the fact that by resorting to such means, you will be causing Artaud considerable material damage, which our friends will judge.
