SAND George. - Lot 285
SAND George.
LETTRE AUTOGRAPHE SIGNÉE À Gustave FLAUBERT, 21 octobre 1868. 6 pages in-8 in ink.
Important, long autograph letter signed by George Sand to Flaubert. Far apart in everything - political opinions, age, aesthetic conceptions - nothing suggested the deep, even mischievous, friendship that bound them together. George Sand was one of the few writers of her time to publicly express her admiration for Madame Bovary. ... Despise me deeply but love me always ... I'm going to tell you that you're not much, and Maurice (Sand's eldest son) is furious too. But we love you in spite of ourselves and we kiss you all the same. To you, you big ingrate.
Exceptional.
