TROUILLE Clovis. - Lot 304
TROUILLE Clovis.
3 AUTOGRAPH LETTERS SIGNED to Maurice RAPIN and Mirabelle DORS. Paris, 1962. 6 pages in-4 (stains on 2 pages).
Maurice Rapin, surrealist painter, and his wife Mirabelle Dors, founders of the Mouvement Surréaliste Populaire, were close to Clovis Trouille. ... In my opinion, it's only painters who can talk about painting. I've come a long way from the mistake of politely asking for a preface once promised to a literary scholar, like when I took L'Etoile Scellée to Breton. In future, I'll ask an esteemed painter. Besides, when it comes to poetry, only the unspoken is poetic. Words kill poetry; that's what Rimbaud finally understood. Hence his silence, misunderstood by bad poets... Cézanne and Van Gogh, already disgusted with these mores and robbed of their lives, withdrew to the provinces to work in solitude on their message. But, alas, they only succeeded when they died. The honor of not living. Is glory posthumous?
