Baga comb - Lot 14
Baga comb Guinea Wood with brown patina H. 18 cm Baga comb, Guinea H. 7 1/8 in This comb with its beautiful brown patina seems to take up some of the characteristic elements of the so-called nimba shoulder masks. The scarifications on the face and torso are combined with the marks of a ringed neck. Even more characteristic is the prominent, drooping chest, essential for a mask associated with fertility cults.
