This would appear to be a second printing: the Getty Research Institute has a copy with the date June 28 "28 giugno" on the title page, later replaced by July 14. COLLATION: A-E4 F2 soft vellum binding, remnants of laces PROVENANCE: Paris, October 21, 2015, no. 76 Michelangelo was buried in the Florentine church of San Lorenzo on July 14, 1564. The sculptor had died on February 18, 1564, aged eighty-nine. This is believed to be one of the earliest obituaries ever published.
