This red devil with long horns and bulging eyes looks ready to pounce. Bearded and disheveled, with all his teeth out, he's bursting with vitality...
The "turkey mark" motif featuring a bird's paw in the middle of his forehead identifies this bogeyman named Hu or Tungwup. A member of the Ogre family, Tungwup is one of the sons of the famous Kachina Mother Raven.
He appears at the Bean Ceremonies (Powamu) for the initiation of young boys. He threatens spectators with his yucca whip to enforce order.
