Ottoman silver and vermeil hammam dish Turkey, Istanbul, first half of 18th century D. 14 cm (Old stopper under the base) This precious multi-lobed bowl is centered on an umbilicus adorned with a calligraphic piece, secured by a thick rivet. The delicate repoussé decoration on the gadroons features alternating foliate scrolls. It is marked with a worn tughra, probably that of Mahmud I, the style of the object corresponding to the period. It also features a sah, or control mark.
