Ottoman vermeil box Ottoman Empire, 18th century 6.3 x 14 x 9.7 cm This multi-lobed vermeil box features repoussé and chased decoration of shells, clasps and foliage borrowed from the European Baroque repertoire. Under arcades supported by columns are buildings whose domes are surmounted by a crescent moon. They are alternated with vase and shell motifs.
