Chased Deccan box with bird design Bronze India, Deccan, 18th century H. 14 cm - D. 30.5 cm This circular, chased bronze box is closed by three chain fasteners in the form of florets. On the lid, the curved ribbed handle ends in flower buds. Below this, various registers of circular friezes (birds facing each other, alternating with bouquets, geometric motifs) are engraved around a flower with two rows of petals. On the body of the box, new geometric friezes recall those on the lid (birds facing each other, geometric and floral motifs).
