Large dagger with swollen blade - Lot 382
Large dagger with swollen blade Steel, wood, silver, coral-colored pearls, brass, copper Balkans, probably Bosnia, 18th century Length 38 cm This large steel dagger has a strong tubular wooden handle, partly covered with openwork silver plates, and adorned with coral-colored pearls and inlaid brass florets. It is topped by a flower-shaped openwork copper plate. The ferrule is architecturally stepped and the blade heel is serrated. The curved blade, single-edged on the inside, has a swollen tip (most often used to pierce chain mail). Certain elements of this weapon's atypical decoration are reminiscent of products from the Trebizond region.
