Talwar Gold damascened steel, stamped leather, wood, textile India, Hyderabad, 18th century L. 94.5 cm (with scabbard 97.5 cm) The handle is finely gold-damascened in the koftgari technique. It features gold calligraphy on the upper part of the pommel, meaning "Madrasa Sanaye Hyderabad Deccan". The damascus steel blade is probably a replacement for an 18th-century kilij blade. The scabbard is finished with a gold damascened steel element.
