Beautiful fragment of Persian carpet Wool and silk on cotton weft Iran, probably Kirman, 17th century 70 x 53.5 cm (wear and holes) This fine fragment of a Safavid-period Persian carpet features a Timurid-inspired design of composite flowers on a wine-red ground. Similar motifs can be found on a carpet published in: Tokatlian A. Soies de paradis, Musées des tissus de Lyon, Gourcuff Gradenigo, September 2008, p. 56.
