Gold-damascened Katar Partly gold-damascened steel India, 18th/19th century H. 39 cm This steel katar is partly gold-damascened on the handle, which features cartouches of calligraphy on a background of stars, alternating with cypress motifs. Inscriptions (Allah) also appear on the edge of the handle, along the blade. Between the two uprights, the tenons are baluster-shaped. The blade is straight with deep gutters and multiple central edges. It features the double-edged edge typical of this weapon, swollen at the tip to pierce opponents' chain mail.
