They are adorned with acid-etched bands of antique-style ornamentation including foliage scrolls, weapon trophies, birds and chimeric creatures, and a few putti, winged or not, all set against a stippled background. The bands are framed by an engraved pearl motif. The background of the engraving is blackened to bring out the decoration. The edges of each shoulder pad are adorned with a raised serrated motif. The buckles at the top of the shoulder and for the arm strap are later replacements. Good overall condition, partial wear to the decoration, missing a large part of the brass rivet covers.
