In partnership with Jean Samuel Pauly, he filed a patent in 1825 to perfect the Pauly invention, and invented a copper primer. In 1834, he patented a thunder-loading rifle. He took part in Paris exhibitions and was awarded a medal of honor in 1839 and a bronze medal in 1849. He lived at 25 rue des Fossés Montmartre, then at 5 bis, rue du Faubourg-Poissonnière.
