First edition of this treatise on the functions of the brain (intellect, perception, knowledge, mind, intelligence, thought, etc.).
Born in Vire in 1624, died in Paris in 1706, the author taught at the Collège de France and was the first perpetual secretary of the Académie des Sciences.
Copy in contemporary red morocco.
Stamp on title: Cabinet de M. de St-Albin.
Small angular wetness on several leaves (including the title) in the first part of the volume. Covers restored.
