GAME. - Explanation of the game known as Venetian Recreation - Lot 66
GAME. - Explanation of the game known as Venetian Recreation. [...]. S.l.n.d. [late 18th century]. One sheet of heavy paper, 57 x 40 cm, red and black inks. Original plate forming the board of a dice and money game called the Récréation vénitienne, a game that doesn't seem to be described anywhere. The rules of the game are described as follows: We play here with eight dice in a horn; there are forty-five places, thirty-three to be won and twelve to be lost. Every raid wins fifty francs; the smallest prizes are ten sols (or 50 centimes); it costs six sols per move, which must be paid in advance, otherwise the move is void; children play only with the consent of their parents. [...] As with any other game, the winnings here are tied to one's happiness; play boldly, and the Merchant will pay cash. Very decorative.
