Together 6 volumes in-folio, fawn calf, double cold fillet, ornate spine, title and appendix, red edges (Binding of the period). New edition of this famous dictionary, first published in Paris in 1704. It was a major reference for the history of the French language and its cultural influence in 18th-century Europe. A fine copy, the spine richly decorated, notably with a fleuron repeated in the boxes with four animals facing each other and four small suns in the corners of the title page. Binding skilfully restored (headbands and some spinebands). Mottling on some boards.
