Le Roi s'amuse, drama. Paris, Renduel, 1832. In-8, red half calf, small cold lace, smooth spine decorated throughout with two fleurons linked by two gilt fillets, black title page, speckled edges (period binding).
First edition, with a woodcut vignette by Johannot as frontispiece, printed on chine collé.
Copy of the first delivery, without the Speech (paginated XXV to XXXIX) delivered by Victor Hugo before the Commercial Court to force the Théâtre-Français to perform Le Roi s'amuse.
The last 4 leaves of the preface are shorter.
