The nakago bears an Hon'ami gold lacquer attribution that reads "Sanjo Yoshinori" (三条吉則). He was a blacksmith from Kyoto's Go-Sanjo school, who traditionally served the imperial court. Yoshinori is a name used by a long line of Go-Sanjo blacksmiths active between the 11th and 15th centuries. Most existing blades are attributed to a Yoshinori who moved to Echizen, probably due to the civil unrest of the Sangoku period. This blacksmith was active around the last quarter of the 15th century. Gold and silver Habaki decorated with swastikas.
