Deletaille, late 1970s - Former Pierre de Strycker collection In the Teotihuacan culture, ceramic censer lids were richly decorated. This one, despite its many missing pieces, features a human mask in the center, embellished with various ornaments. Discs, ribbons and feather ornaments were, like many other elements, made separately in molds and combined according to specific needs or desires. Broken or carefully dismantled incense burners of this type have been found in tombs and offering deposits in Teotihuacan.
