* CHESS. - English chess set, mid-19th century. Wooden case (10 x 20.2 x 6.3 cm) folding into two parts and forming a board, adorned with 5 bone and ivory elements pointed on the main lid, one of which bears this engraved inscription: CapTN BOWE Whaler Skua 1855; two metal clasps. Beautiful chess set once belonging to a whaling captain, complete with carved and stained white and red pieces. Minor restoration to the box and to an element on the lid, small chip to a white pawn. A cites dated July 23, 2025 will be given to the purchaser.
