Second edition of this philosophical essay by Louis-Jean Lévesque de Pouilly (1691-1750), a scholar from Reims: his Réflexions had first appeared in Recueil de divers écrits sur l'amour et l'amitié (Paris, 1736).
This very rare work is the first book printed by Gauffecourt, an amateur printer and bookbinder who set up a small personal printing works in his country house at Monbrillant, just outside Geneva. Only twenty copies were printed.
