Small in-4, marbled calf, red speckled edges (17th century binding). An early printing from Saint-Mihiel (Lorraine). Second edition, after the original published in Pont-à-Mousson in 1599, of these customs governing part of the Duchy of Lorraine. The origins of printing in Saint-Mihiel, a town a few kilometers east of Nancy in Lorraine, date back to the early 1610s (cf. Deschamps, col. 485-486), with François du Bois as prototypographer (cf. Lepreux, who gives the dates of activity as 1613-1619). Handwritten bookplate on title. Handwritten annotations on last leaf. Some dampstaining and soiling.
