POTT (Johannes Henricus). Specimen juridicum, De nefando lam - Lot 160
POTT (Johannes Henricus). Specimen juridicum, De nefando lamiarum cum diabolo coitu. Jena, Tobias Oehrlingius, 1689.
In-4, reused vellum (19th century binding).
Very rare work on the sexual trade between witches and demons.
Cited in Cornell, Witchcraft Collection, p. 515, and by Coumont (P63.1), who mentions two editions with the same date and address, but no further details.
The author is of the same opinion as that of Malleus Maleficarum and Del Rio at the end of the 16th century; for him, demons are capable of reproducing and cites "pleasant examples", since incubi have animal forms, there are women who, as a consequence of their abominable relations with demons, have given birth to all sorts of animals (lion, cat, dog, etc.) or monsters (Couliano, Eros et magie à la Renaissance, pp. 201-202).
Freckling due to poor paper quality. The volume was part of a factitious collection from which it has been extracted.
