In-12, blond calf, triple gilt fillet, central coat of arms, ornate spine, coat of arms (ermine) repeated in the caissons, red title page, gilt edges over marbling (period binding). First edition of this treatise on the judicial expertise of handwriting, by Étienne de Blégny, a member of the community of sworn master writers since 1666. A dedication copy bearing the arms of Louis-Dominique de Bailleul (1622-1701), Marquis de Chateau-Gontier, President à Mortier of the Parlement de Paris. His signature also appears on a flyleaf: De Chateaugontier. Marked hinges, small chip to upper cover.
