MANUSCRIT. - PÉRICARD (Albert). Paléontologie. S.l., 1934-19 - Lot 322
MANUSCRIT. - PÉRICARD (Albert). Paléontologie. S.l., 1934-1936. Manuscript in-4 (21 x 17 cm approx.), 62 pages, red half-percaline, partially printed label glued to front cover (Binding of the period). Curious and amusing satirical album, apparently unpublished, illustrated with 23 portrait-loads in ink and colored pencil of professors at the Institut national agronomique de Paris, considered to be "fossils", hence the title of the manuscript. The album opens with an announcement of the "funeral" of the institute's 59th graduating class, and the portraits are accompanied by some twenty humorous speeches in the form of funeral orations. Among the professors featured are W. Oualid (political economy), Marquis (organic chemistry), Ailleret (electrical engineering), Lavauden (agricultural zoology), Arambourg (geology), Reboul (meteorology), Tardy (rural economics), Blanc (mechanics), Tony Ballu (agricultural machinery) and Corneille (rural legislation). The author of this album is an alumnus of the Institut and was a member of this class. He went on to become professor of chemistry.
