Carved oak Virgin and Child with polychrome remains. Seated - Lot 10
Carved oak Virgin and Child with polychrome remains. Seated in a swaying posture, the Virgin holds her Son, dressed in a long tunic, on her left knee; her face has a smiling expression and crescent-shaped eyes; she is clothed in a veil around her head, a girdled robe and an open cloak, one side of which falls to her knees; her flattened head would have been wearing a crown. Rhine Valley, circa 1280/1300 H. 49 cm - W. 27 cm - D. 21 cm (missing, lower part cut)
