Head of a bearded man - Lot 21
Head of a bearded man Limestone, traces of polychromy Normandy, 16th century H. 26 cm - W. 15.5 cm - D. 24 cm The white, fossil-free limestone from which this head is carved may have come from quarries near Rouen. Its style brings it into line with the major Rouen projects of the early 16th century under Cardinal Georges d'Amboise (1460-1510), such as the archiepiscopal palace or the cathedral's "butter tower".
