In the late 1960s, he broke with traditional painting to imagine the life of a fictitious double, simply named "the Painter", whose poetic wanderings he recounts. His works uniquely combine images (photos, drawings, collages) and typewritten texts, blurring the boundaries between real biography and fiction. His pastels and collages, acclaimed at Documenta in Kassel in 1972, question with nostalgia and irony the place of the artist and the myth of painting.
