[PHOTOGRAPH]. PETRO AND THEO VAN DOESBURG. Weimar, 1921. ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH. 7.9 x 12.6 cm. Vintage silver print on postcard depicting Theo and Nelly Van Doesburg, titled in white ink. On the reverse of the postcard, postmarked September 30, 1921, addressed from Weimar/Germany to their friend Antony KOK with this autograph text in black ink: "Warm regards / Does & Nelly / Absender Th vDoesburg / Neu Ober Weimar". The card is addressed to Antony KOK, a poet and a leading figure in De Stijl. He met Theo Van Doesburg in 1914 and became one of De Stijl’s closest collaborators. They corresponded until Theo Van Doesburg’s death in 1931. Petro Van Doesburg was the stage name of pianist Nelly van Moorsel, who became Van Doesburg's wife. After living in Weimar for several years, with Theo teaching at the Bauhaus, they settled permanently in France in 1923. Extremely rare.
